Planning

MRCOG Part 1: 3-Month Study Schedule

A realistic week-by-week plan built for doctors working clinically. Assumes 1.5–2.5 hours of study per day on weekdays and longer sessions at weekends.

Recommended Daily Structure

Morning (45 min)
Question practice — 20–30 questions with review
Evening (60 min)
Subject reading or watching revision videos
Weekend
Longer sessions (2–3 hrs) — mock paper or deep-dive revision

Consistency beats intensity. 1.5 hours every day outperforms 8-hour weekend cramming sessions.

Key Principles

  • Never skip question practice — even 15 questions on a busy day is better than none
  • Track your accuracy per subject — focus time where accuracy is lowest
  • In Month 3, stop learning new material — only reinforce what you know
  • Get 7–8 hours of sleep, especially in the final 2 weeks — memory consolidation matters
  • Take at least 4 full mock papers before exam day to build stamina
